Parent Responsibilities
I try to leave on time, and am not responsible for a student who is left alone. I expect parents to assist with practice (especially for beginners!), so I go over assignments with a parent before I leave. This year, I will also put assignment notes on my web calendar. Please go there, and email or call with any questions that arise during the week.
Student Reponsiblities
I set practice expectations based on age, ability, and personality. If you only have 30 minutes to practice, do 10 minutes a day for three days. Students who can only practice a little, but 3-4 days per week, will achieve more than those who practice alot one week, and none for the rest of the month. The best students are consistent. As ability grows, time spent on practice grows as well!
Makeups
To continue my education through music teachers associations, state and national conferences, and maintain resources for her students, I must enforce a makeup policy. With 24 hours notice, I will give a makeup, and offer makeups in June for lessons that could not be made up before. No more than 4 lessons You cancel can be made up (I make up Any lessons that I miss apart from Thanksgiving week, Spring Break, and Christmas week).
