Piano Keys

Cynthia

Mandy has the patience of a saint and tries to tailor the lessons in little snipets to keep my little ADHD child's attention. Practice sessions are encouraged to be as short as 10 minutes in multiple sessions, as opposed to long ones. She utilizes a multisensory approach to teaching with the piano: clapping, marching, computer games, coloring workbooks, and guitar to learn notes. She picks songs they are interested in, like an advanced Star Wars piece for my then 9/10 year old. Then she gives small incentive prizes tailored to that child's interest....stickers, sweets, small gifts.....always working on the premise of positive reinforcement. She even tries to make it fun with Halloween recitals complete with costumes!

All children learn differently and Mandy has the unique ability to discover your child's learning strengths. She skillfully uses these learning strengths to guide each child through the rough spots so that piano really is fun.

Mandy does a great job at inspiring our daughters to practice. We're quite pleased with the progress they've made in the last two years.
